Smithboro is a village in Bond County, Illinois, United States. The population was 177 at the 2010 census. It is located in the southern part of the county, about 50 miles east of St. Louis, Missouri. The village is based around the intersection of Illinois Route 140 and Illinois Route 127. Agriculturally-based and a small community in size, Smithboro provides easy access to larger cities such as Greenville and Vandalia for more extensive needs, while the amenities of Highland and Edwardsville are within an hour's drive. The community is served by the Mulberry Grove Community Unit School District, which offers a number of local schools to serve K-12 students in the area. The village is also home to several churches, as well as a number of parks and recreational facilities.
